IDEV, the internet-based data collection of the statistical offices of the Federation and the Länder, has been designed for online transmission of data. The supply of data, collected by the Federal Statistical Office and the statistical offices of the Länder via the internet, is based on a web application. To transmit the relevant data, the declarant activates the IDEV web application in an internet browser. Depending on the statistics for which data will be supplied, the declarant can either complete an online form or use a web page for encrypted data transmission.

The IDEV intra-Community trade declaration system gives both businesses responsible for providing information and declaring third parties (for example forwarding agencies or tax consultancy businesses) the opportunity to transmit intra-Community trade data via the internet to the Federal Statistical Office.

The IDEV intra-Community trade declaration system provides the following options:

• registering as a party responsible for providing information using the web application

• registering as a declaring third party using the web application

• consolidating user IDs to change over to another user identification within the declaration system

• entering data on arrivals and dispatches of goods in an online form

• using an online form provided to declaring third parties to compile declarations for other businesses responsible for providing information

• creating a local backup of items not yet transmitted and reloading local backups

• transmitting uploaded declaration files

• the correction, the replacement and cancel of data via the IDEV Report history

• the correction of the data with the help of a correction form
